WE TAKE OUR FRESH PRODUCE VERY SERIOUSLY

We’re 100% HACCP Certified

We take our fresh produce very seriously. That’s why we have worked hard to create a storage and transport process to keep our vegetables and fruit in top notch condition. This includes a temperature controlled warehouse and vehicles that include thermostatically controlled cool rooms. Because of our hard work in this area we successfully satisfied the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) certification in 2005.

Background on HACCP

In order to be compliant with HACCP, our business, warehouse and vehicles were rigorously tested to ensure that our process adhered to the health and safety standards of storing, handling, packaging and delivering fresh produce. Undertaking this testing allowed us to optimise our service delivery for our clients where they now have peace of mind that the produce that they are serving their customers is both fresh and consistent with industry guidelines.

What was tested to become accredited?

In short, to obtain the HACCP certification, the whole shooting match was tested over a period of 6 months by an independent consultant. The process included an examination of the below:

  • Design of our warehouse
  • Manufacturing
  • Materials involved in handling
  • Delivery
  • Storage
  • Accuracy
  • Labelling and packaging
  • Food Safety

During this process, we were also required to document procedures of all of the above elements, which are now given to new employees and forms part of our expectations when working for Express Fresh.
